I’ll let you decide on that one because technically Pokemon Team Rocket Edition is a remake of Pokemon Fire Red, but that was a remake of Red.

Pokemon Radical Red

Pokemon Glazed
I accidentally came across and adored this game. Pokemon Glazed is about the mystery and confusion that surround a sudden issue that affects the entire region.
You must investigate ancient ruins, enigmatic Pokemon, and a scarfed Pikachu who is angrier than a small chihuahua to discover what mysterious power is causing the Pokemon world and the real world to collide.

Pokemon Vega
While some fans may turn to fan games to relive enhanced versions of their favorite games, others may do so in search of fresh, original content to refresh these classic games. Pokemon Vega accomplishes this by introducing 181 new Pokemon. In addition, the game has a new region called Tohoak and 70 new Pokemon moves.
One thing to keep in mind is the game’s learning curve, which can be difficult for beginners. Players who find the traditional Pokemon games too simple may find this appealing, but it’s possible that those who aren’t ready may find this game frustrating. However, the plot is interesting and features some beloved characters from previous games.
Pokemon Dark Rising
Do you ever have bizarre dreams involving Pokemon? Yes, I agree, but what if there was a game based on a dream in which a Pokemon begged you to aid it in saving the world?
Although the average person would likely consider it to be a nightmare, to me, that sounds like the most wonderful dream ever. Just that is the basis for Pokemon Dark Rising’s plot, so when you discuss it with your best friend, it turns out he experienced the same dream!
The gaming experience is in no way diminished by the fact that this ROM hack is not as “big” as some others on the list. Over 360 plus Pokemon from areas like Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova are available to catch in this game. It adheres closely to the traditional Pokemon plot, which includes puzzles, bad guys, and gyms. But what makes this ROM hack so great is that it gives the game a polished look while incorporating modern-day Pokemon, moves, and features.
This ROM hack is for those of you who prefer to stick with the classics while still enjoying features from more recent generations, such as Dream World abilities and other features.
Pokemon Giai
Another ROM hack that is frequently included in lists is Pokemon Gaia. There have been speed-running sessions with this game. Despite not being the typical tale of becoming a Pokemon Master, it still has an original and thrilling plot. Gaia has a lot of updated visual aesthetics, just like many of the hacks on this list.
Additionally, the game features original musical tracks that are not present in other Pokemon games. The Pokemon lineup, which spans Generations I through VI, features updated types, moves, and other elements. If you like that feature, the game also offers Mega Evolution. While training your Pokémon together, you can socialize, join or create a guild, and explore the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions.
When you’re not training your Pokémon, there is a tonne of extra games and activities to keep you occupied.
Additionally, there is no charge to play. Try it out; you have nothing to lose and a lot of Pokéfun to gain!
Pokemon Insurgence
Years have passed while I’ve waited patiently for Nintendo/Game Freak to get their act together and release a more “mature” Pokémon game for their older audiences.
I’ve turned to fan games in search of a grim storyline because it doesn’t seem like that will happen anytime soon. This is how I discovered Pokémon Insurgence.
I won’t give it away.
But given that it involves cults and torturous experiments on Pokémon, you can anticipate a fairly gloomy story.

Pokemon Sors

Pokemon Flora Sky
The Pokemon Dialga and Palkia square off in the opening scene of Flora Sky. After the epic battle is over, they leave a portal between the Town World open, letting Giratina loose in the area and causing a lot of problems.
you have to train your Pokemon and battle Team Magma and Aqua, who are attempting to capture legendary Pokemon to rule the world, your task is to shut the portal before it is too late.
The ROM hack includes a never-before-seen plot and brand-new events with a variety of legendary Pokemon, including Mew, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Shaymin, and more. The world is full of new characters that you’ll grow to love or hate, over 380 Pokemon for you to catch, mini-games, moves, items, and HMs.
Even better, they added a day/night system that causes events based on the time and place you are in, giving the game a very organic randomness.
If you want a straightforward and simple plot, this is among the best Pokemon ROM hacks. One that you can play through while unwinding.
Pokemon Show-Down
You probably don’t need me to explain what Pokémon Showdown is if you enjoy competitive gaming.
Pokémon Showdown probably has the most players, despite not being a true game. And is thought to be the best way to engage in online combat with arbitrary Trainers.
Because it closely adheres to tournament rules and gives each Pokémon the same stats as they have in the most recent official game, it is ideally suited for competitive play.
Pokemon Prism
Pokemon Prism introduces two new Regions, new Pokemon varieties, and entertaining mini-games. It follows the player as Lance’s young child as they befriend a lost Larvitar and attempt to earn 20 Gym badges. The game blends old and new in an adventure depicted in vintage Game Boy Color graphics, and it has a distinctive plot that incorporates intricate Pokemon lore.
The player will tour both the Naljo and Rijon Regions in this follow-up to Pokemon Brown (another fantastic fan game). In Pokemon-only areas, players can command their Pokemon, find and refine new Gas- and Sound-type Pokemon, and alter their appearance by choosing from 12 sprite options.
Pokemon Brown
Being one of the original Pokemon ROM hacks, Pokemon Brown is well-known. It is based on the iconic Gameboy game, but the plot has been slightly altered.
The game features 10 new cities, one Johto city, and more than 21 new routes to discover. Set in the newly created region of Rijon. Seven new Pokemon species that weren’t present in Pokemon Red/Blue are introduced as a result.
Imagine a new region in Pokemon Red that has never-before-seen characters, new Pokemon, unique music tracks, new scenery, and an extensive plot. Brown is a Pokemon.
It feels as though it has been overlooked because it doesn’t receive as many updates as other ROM hacks.
Pokemon Dreams
In Dreams, the plot revolves around your character’s attempt to emulate your older sibling. You might wonder why someone would want to become a Pokemon Master. You will meet allies, adversaries, and subtleties along the way as you travel. Discover the Solda Region to become the next Pokemon Master.
There are about 800 Pokemon on the roster, some of which are Gen 7-only. Additionally, there are 30 Fakemon available for use in the game. In this game, the Dexnav from the ORAS games makes an appearance. There are many similar components, and there is a tonne of post-game content you can explore.
Pokemon Reborn
Pokémon Reborn, which includes Pokémon up to gen 7, is another enormously popular fan game.
You can choose one of 21 starters before heading into the Reborn region.
Here, crime is out of control and society is in disarray. Will you be the one to save these nations and bring them peace?
The Field Effects present in most areas of this hack, which increase the level of strategic thinking required to win Pokémon battles, must be considered its most distinctive feature.

Pokemon Blaze Black

Pokemon Pheonix Rising
Phoenix Rising is a free, episodic Pokémon role-playing game created by fans using the Pokémon Essentials engine and RPG Maker XP.
