Hard Cider Ale plus Talenti Pumpkin Pie Gelato equals a boozy float beverage perfect for fall sipping.

I’m blaming this Hard Cider Float recipe on Jessica. I don’t even know why, but I know I’ve seen her put ice cream in ale before… and it just seems like something she would do. And enjoy. Although not right this moment because she’s pregnant. But even still, she’d enjoy me enjoying this boozy float for her, I’m sure.

I’ve blogged floats before, even boozy floats, but never one like this. This Hard Cider Float takes floats to a whole new level. This isn’t your mama’s old fashioned soda fountain float. No way. This is a full of pumpkin flavor idea for the inbetween season when it’s still too warm out for hot chocolate but not quite warm enough for foo-foo summer drinks. The Hard Cider Float is a good, refreshing co*cktail when you want that must have fall pumpkin flavor without the hot drinks of the cooler months.

Two of my favorite products come together in one great drink… I used Reserve Pumpkin Woodchuck Cider and then Talenti’s new Pumpkin Pie gelato. This was perfect for fall, but you could get creative with any of your favorite ale’s and gelato or ice cream. Talenti Gelato is so good you may have a hard time sacrificing it to an ale float, but I suggest you at least try! Use a scoop or two in your float and you’ll still have plenty to savor and enjoy straight out of the pint….it’s one of my favorite me time indulgences!

So what do you think? Are you ready to get on the boozy float bandwagon? It’s a really good one to be on and the possibilities are endless! All you cider/ale lovers go ahead and give adding a scoop of gelato to your next pint. I bet you’ll love it! Enjoy!

FAQs

What makes pumpkins float? ›

The Archimedes Principle

That is the displaced water. So, when you put pumpkins in your pool, the float! Because the water is denser than the pumpkin, the water pushes the pumpkin up, and it floats. While you may think pumpkins are too heavy to float, they actually are not because they aren't as dense as the water.

What is pumpkin hard cider? ›

Available August 15 - Nov 15. This seasonal cider is made with roasted pumpkins, cinnamon, allspice, fresh ginger, and nutmeg, lending it a rich, hearty flavor that pairs well with cooler weather.

Will a pumpkin float? ›

Since the pumpkin is less dense than the water, the water is able to push the pumpkin up quite a bit, so that it floats. If the pumpkin were denser than water, the water would not be able to generate enough upward force. In that case, the pumpkin would sink.

What is the difference between hard cider and dry hard cider? ›

Dry hard cider is characterized by its minimal residual sugar content, resulting in a less sweet, more crisp profile. European hard cider, on the other hand, often reflects the traditional cider-making practices of European countries, using unique apple varieties and specific fermentation techniques.

What's the difference between cider and hard cider? ›

Differences Between Cider and Hard Cider

In terms of alcohol content, cider typically remains non-alcoholic, with minimal or no alcohol produced during the fermentation process. On the other hand, hard cider boasts an alcohol content similar to that of beer, typically ranging from 4% to 6% ABV.

Is hard cider the same as dry cider? ›

On average, most hard ciders are 4.5% - 7% alcohol by volume (ABV), while some ciders have an ABV as high as 10% or 12%. Drier ciders usually have a higher ABV because the yeast consumes a majority of the cider's natural sugars.

Do all pumpkins float in water? ›

They do! In fact, I once used a huge, 25 pound pumpkin, and it still floated! (They don't float on top of the water, obviously, but they bob with about 1/3-1/2 of the pumpkin above water.) Many children will think that your mini pumpkin will float, but that the huge pumpkin they can't even lift will not.

Why do pumpkins and apples float? ›

Apples and pumpkins are not solid. The pumpkin has a large hollow inside. Both weigh less than the amount of water they displace, and thus they float.

Do giant pumpkins float? ›

Pumpkins are buoyant and will even float with a person inside.
